The proximity and the view of the Steinerne Meer are impressive.
Tour info: The starting point is the Kohlmaisbahn cable car. At the top you have the choice between the high trail towards the Spielberghorn (with descent via the Spielberghaus) or further to Leogang and back to the middle station of the Kohlmaisbahn. The hike is easy, but requires good footwear, as many roots characterize the path.

Pinzgauer Spazierweg – This high-altitude trail is a visual highlight with views of the glacier world of the Hohe Tauern and the Großglockner, Austria’s highest mountain. The trail runs continuously at an altitude of about 2,000 m and is therefore particularly suitable for hot days. The Pinzgauer Höhenweg can be combined with various hikes. Our recommendation: Take the Westgipfelbahn to the top. Follow the Pinzgauer hiking trail to the Seetörl. From there it is possible to descend to the Hacklbergeralm and continue hiking to the middle station of the Westgipfelbahn. For experienced hikers we recommend an additional loop. From Seetörl to the Hochsaalbachkogel and the Medalkogel and then via the Hacklbergeralm back to the middle station. The total walking time is about 5 hours.

Stoffennieder – For those who enjoy hiking in cooler air, the Stoffennieder is an insider tip. First with the Zwölferkogelbahn to 1,984 m, then in 45 minutes to the Penhab (190 m) and comfortably further to the Stoffennieder. This trail is not near the lift, so the first thing to do is sweat. The easiest way to the start is via the Reiterkogelbahn. From the mountain station, take the forest path to the Rosswaldhütte. From there, another forest path leads over 500 meters of altitude up to the Reichkendlkopf. The trail has amazing views of the mountains, running for 2 kilometres and concluding with a somewhat overgrown forest track.

After that, a forest path leads down to the head of the valley. Uphillers (only suitable for e-bikes) can turn right at the 2nd left turn. This is followed by a very varied but ultimately very difficult uphill trail to the Forsthofalm with tight turns and stony passages.
