The Kids Hiking Challenge Saalbach Hinterglemm is the motivational kick for families who want to explore the mountains together. Children switch into discovery mode, collect stations, punch symbols and experience hiking as a game. For parents it’s easy to plan, for children it feels like an adventure.

At the heart of the challenge are the control stations. Children love the Zwick principle because it makes it clear what they have achieved. Three stations per route and another step towards a medal is taken.

Tip: Let the children take over “team leadership”. Map, stations, symbols. Suddenly they are running in front.

The reward is clearly staggered and motivates really well:

• Bronze medal: 2 routes completed
• Silver medal: 3 to 4 routes completed
• Gold medal: 5 to 6 completed routes

A few simple tricks can turn a family hike into a really good day out:

• Start early so there’s time for breaks and playtime
• Pack snacks, preferably in small portions to “celebrate the station”
• In the end, plan a destination that attracts: Playground, ice cream, terrace, pool
• Let the children announce the stations, this gives pace and focus
• Finally, you can enjoy an ice cream on our sun terrace and swim a lap in the pool.
