What is the Kids Winter Challenge in Saalbach?

A winter vacation in Saalbach Hinterglemm is an unforgettable experience for families in itself. But with the Kids Winter Challenge, the stay becomes a real adventure with a goal, excitement and a well-deserved award at the end.

The idea behind it is as simple as it is ingenious: children receive a control card with which they set off on a journey of discovery through wintry Saalbach Hinterglemm. A total of 6 stations with various checkpoints are waiting to be conquered. Each station is confirmed with a pinch of the control card, and those who complete at least 3 stations receive an official award.

The challenge comprises six varied stations that reflect the entire range of winter leisure activities on offer in Saalbach Hinterglemm. From nature experiences and fairytale forest walks to action-packed tobogganing adventures, there is something for every taste and every age.

The 5 stations of the Kids Winter Challenge

1st toboggan fun

Tobogganing is simply part of it. The toboggan runs in Saalbach Hinterglemm count as a separate station in the Challenge.

2nd summit victory after election

You decide on a summit, called Zwölferkogel, Westgipfel or Wildenkarkogel. The pinch points are at the summit crosses.

3. tree-top path

Golden Gate Bridge of the Alps and the Baumzipfelweg at the head of the valley. This is particularly beautiful in winter, as you are walking above the snow-covered valley.

4. fairytale forest

The fairytale forest in Hinterglemm is illuminated in the evening and feels even more magical in the snow. Important: good footwear, because it can be slippery.

5. fun on the slopes

This station only works on skis or a snowboard. You collect symbols at various funslopes and snow trails in the ski area.

The rewards are clearly staggered:
With 2 stations you get the bronze clown, with 3 stations the silver clown, and with 4 or 5 stations the golden clown.

Tips to keep the day relaxed

Don’t take on too much at once. Two stations in one day is a really good goal. The challenge works best if you plan breaks and give the children the feeling that they are leading the day.

Back at the Rosentalerhof: mountain spa, fire bowl and children’s playroom

After such a winter adventure, warmth is twice as good. Back at the Rosentalerhof, the mountain spa with sauna and brine steam bath. And two evenings a week we light the fire bowl outside. With a mulled wine in hand and a view of the mountains, the day is complete. Meanwhile, the children can let off steam in our children’s playroom.
